Book your travel vaccine visit four to six weeks before your program starts. Some programs and visas ask for proof of specific vaccines, and a few vaccines need more than one dose spaced weeks apart. Bring your program’s health requirements to your appointment and we will match them against CDC guidance for your country.

Rabies vaccination matters for wildlife fieldwork, veterinary placements and long stays in rural areas. Japanese encephalitis comes up for long programs in rural Asia. These are exactly the vaccines that are hardest to find on short notice, so plan early.

Will my student insurance cover travel vaccines?

We are not in network with insurance plans, including student plans, so you pay at your appointment. Many plans do not cover travel vaccines, so check yours first. You will get an itemized Superbill with insurance codes to submit to your plan if you choose.

Can I get to the clinic without a car?

Yes. We are at 234 Russell St in Hadley, on the Route 9 PVTA bus corridor that runs between Amherst and Northampton.

How long do travel vaccines last?

It varies. Yellow fever protects most people for life. The typhoid shot lasts about two years and the pills about five. Two doses of hepatitis A protect for decades.
