Hadley travel clinic questions

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, patients are seen by appointment only. Call (413) 200-4139. Phones are answered Monday through Thursday, 8am to 6pm.

Do you see UMass and Five College students?

Yes. We are on Route 9 in Hadley, on the PVTA bus corridor between Amherst and Northampton, and we handle study abroad vaccine requirements all the time.

How long does the yellow fever vaccine last?

For most people one dose protects for life. A booster only comes up in special cases, such as travel to an active outbreak ten or more years after vaccination.

Does insurance cover travel vaccines?

We are not in network with health insurance plans, so payment is due at the end of your appointment, and many plans do not cover travel vaccines. We suggest checking with your insurer about reimbursement first. You will leave with an itemized Superbill showing insurance codes and charges you paid.

When should I start my travel vaccines?

Four to six weeks before departure. Some vaccines, like the rabies series, need multiple doses spaced over weeks.

Our Hadley office also serves Amherst, Northampton, South Hadley and the Five College area.
